We’re happy to announce the ability to choose a higher display resolution (paid accounts only). Users can now opt to display their 360s in up to 8K (8192 x 4096) resolution. The previous maximum resolution was 4K (4096 x 2048).

This makes the imagery much sharper especially where much higher resolution sources are used (e.g. renders, drone panoramas); to that end we also have increased the maximum resolution of images that you can upload (now up to 1.5 gigapixels).

The higher resolution is available both within the Momento360 web application as well as for share/embed links; in the links it is controlled by a new option, so you can opt to serve smaller/larger sizes depending on your use case.

For example, from a source image that was 13000 x 6500, here is a side-by-side comparison:

Embed with resolution set to 8K. (Source image resolution of 13000x6500)
Embed with resolution set to default 4K. (Source image resolution of 13000x6500)

Why you may want to elect a lower default resolution

There is a tradeoff between performance and speed as resolutions are higher; because the sizes are larger, downloading takes longer and performance can be degraded, if you like to place multiple embeds on a single page especially (we would actually advise you to use our Collections feature in fact). If you do mostly work on mobile or have viewers that have older/slower devices you may consider keeping the resolution at 4K if you start seeing reports of slower behavior.
